Alder St.

710 SF Addition + Remodel; Completed in 2007

The dining area, widened into a day-lit hub where spaces and activities overlap, opens horizontally to the kitchen, living-room, and yard, as well as vertically to the master suite above. These maneuvers transform the cave-like character of the original residence into an open and day-lit environment with multiple outdoor views. A minimalist vocabulary of clean lines and exposed structure reinforce the existing modernist cues. A new master suite with a home office is capped by upward-sweeping roof eaves. The tall transom windows this roof form affords provide optimal second-floor views and daylighting.
